Why This Gift

By New Year’s, most of what was under the tree has been put away.

This one will still be on the wall fifty Christmases from now, and it will look like the animal they know: the tilt of the head, the patience with the children, the way they wait at the barn gate.

On Christmas morning, they open the certificate. The portrait comes after, and you don’t need to know what size suits the room, or which portrait they would choose. They decide all of that with Kristin. You only need to know how much they love that animal.

Artwork is purchased separately, and sales tax applies when it is ordered. The typical client invests $2,000–$4,000 in wall art. We tell you this now because you should know exactly what you’re giving, and so should they.

How It Works

    You tuck the certificate under the tree.

    Tell us the date you plan to give it, and we won’t contact them before then. A digital certificate is emailed to you right after purchase, and a printed one follows by mail.

    They begin with a conversation.

    When they’re ready, they reach out to Kristin. We talk through everything before a single photo is taken: the animals, the place, the wall.

  3. 3

    The session.

    Kristin brings professional studio lighting to them. Sessions typically take 60–90 minutes, and the animal sets the pace.

  4. 4

    The reveal.

    About two weeks later, they see their portraits to scale on their own walls, and choose.

  5. 5

    The art comes home.

    Delivery and installation follow in about four to six weeks. Hardware, measurement, and hanging are all handled.

A Note on Timing

The certificate is the gift you give this holiday. The portrait comes after, on their schedule, roughly six to eight weeks after their session. It will not be on the wall by Christmas, and we would rather tell you that now.

They have 24 months from the date of purchase to use it, so there is no hurry.

Order by December 7 for the printed certificate to arrive by Christmas. After that, the digital certificate is ready to print and give.

Kristin works with an animal’s energy, not against it. Some of the best portraits come from movement, and sessions are never hurried.

Dogs and horses are our specialties, and any animal they are bonded with is welcome. They can include all the animals they’d like, and they are welcome to be in the portraits too.

Yes, if they would like to. They pay the difference in investment, plus sales tax on that difference. It is entirely optional, and the gift is complete without it.

Artwork ordered through Hoof & Howl: gallery-wrapped canvas, framed prints, painter portraits, and Legacy Albums. The credit has no cash value.

24 months from the date of purchase.

You can have a full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the certificate has not been used. After that it is not refundable, though you are welcome to pass it to someone else. Unused certificates expire 24 months from the date of purchase.
